I am a nêhiyaw and saulteaux visual fine artist working in large scale paintings and drawings, sculpture, beadwork and graphic design. Themes in my work address my Indigenous ancestry and reconnections to the lost language and healing. I create work that address the impact of society and its relationship to land, water and living beings. I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2023 and working towards creating a body of work with the intention of presenting as my first solo exhibition. I aim to show the public audience my way of reconnecting back to my culture through ceremonies and healing intergenerational trauma. The reconnection with culture has shown my spirit is connected with the earth and how we need to as a society need to protect the land and water for the next seven generations to have a place to successfully thrive in.
My artistic practice has evolved by teaching art classes at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery while also leading art workshops with the Dunlop Art Gallery. I have been sharing beading, drawing, and painting techniques that I have acquired through personal mentorships and ways of knowing. Becoming a teacher has brightened my horizons on sharing my personal knowledge of creating artwork and sharing parts of my Indigenous history. I have been success with proposals where my artwork has been shared at Neutral Ground, Sakewewak, and other public art displays in Regina and Moose Jaw. Reconnecting back to my culture with my biological father has been healing and creating artwork to showcase what the journey is represented as. My artwork that contains spiritual ideaologies is guided through my fathers ceremonies and my visions in them.
